The Dark side of Celebrity skincare Brands

First it was clothes, then perfumes, then beauty brands but now the craze is skincare lines. These days it feels like almost every Celebrity and Influencer are jumping on the bandwagon to create their own skincare brand. Rihanna's Fenty Skin, Milly Bobby Brown's Florence by Mills, Ellen DeGeneres's Kind Science, Scarlett Johansson's The offset, Kylie Skin by Kylie Jenner, SKNN by Kim Kardashian, Travis Barker's Barker Wellness, Hailey Bieber's Rhode Skin, Are not even all of them believe it or not, there are many other celebrity brands that I don't have the energy to find out.

Recently Brad Pitt launched his own skincare line which includes a cream for $320 and a serum for $385!

These brands face a lot of criticism and for good reason. They all use the same overused marketing lines such as genderless, inclusive, eco friendly etc and seem to be highly priced and perform like drugstore products or even worse. People are sick of Celebrities starting their own brands just because they can, when the money they are spending on creating these brands would be much better spent on collaborating or investing in independent brands that are actually doing the work and unlike some of the celebrity brand owners are actually passionate about skincare.

Skincare is a big business and one of the main reasons these brands still generate a lot of money is the major influence the celebs have over their fans. As fans a lot of us believe our celebrity idols can do no wrong.

Aside from being a cash grab, many believe that they don't actually use their own products! Milly Bobby Brown was caught in a video demonstrating a product where it looked like didn't have any of the product on her hands and she was rubbing air into her face.

I have nothing against plastic surgery but to mislead people and making them believe that these products are all they use to look the way they do is a big problem. Because they also have to follow a diet and fitness routine and get a lot of treatments done to achieve that near perfect skin. Not to mention most of the pictures used for skincare ads are heavily edited

I already mentioned the solution but what can you say, it's their money and their platforms they can utilize it however they want  to...
